A Vanish Plate is a license-plate privacy device that uses an LCD (liquid crystal display) to let you change the plate’s appearance, effectively making the characters readable or unreadable at the push of a button on a remote. It’s designed so the user can switch the plate’s visibility on and off instantly.
Inside the device is a thin LCD layer aligned with your license plate. When the LCD is off it’s transparent and the plate reads normally. When the LCD is activated it changes optical properties (polarization/contrast), fully blacking out the license plate so standard cameras and the naked eye can’t read it. A small controller runs the screen and receives the remote signal.
Because many jurisdictions treat obscuring or altering a license plate as illegal, you must verify local laws before purchasing or installing one. Check the specific statutes or municipal codes where you live for exact legal language and penalties.
The Vanish Plate is designed with factory-aligned mounting points that match virtually all standard license-plate patterns (for U.S. and Canadian vehicles) so you don’t need special adapters or OEM brackets.
